New to Puerto Rico (or Coming Back)? How to Find People to Play With

Moving to the island, coming home after years away, or just visiting: how to use Xsporty to find games and people to play with from your first week.

Every year new people land in Puerto Rico: Puerto Ricans coming home after years on the mainland, remote workers, students and families relocating. And every week there are visitors who want to play something while they're here. They all share the same problem: the good games are organized through personal contacts, and when you arrive you don't have any.

Sports are the fastest shortcut to meeting people

You don't need anyone to like you to play — you just need to show up on time and play fair. After the game, the conversation happens on its own. That's why sports are one of the fastest ways to make friends somewhere new.

How to use Xsporty from day one

  1. Build your profile with a photo and a short bio: where you're from, what you play, when you arrived.
  2. Keep your profile public so organizers can find and invite you.
  3. Filter by distance from where you live or are staying.
  4. Join a beginner or intermediate game the first time, even if you're good. It's easier to fit in than to impress.
  5. Follow the organizers of the games you enjoyed. Your next few weeks will fill themselves.

Spanish, English, or both

The app works in Spanish and English, and on courts here you'll hear both (plus plenty of Spanglish). You don't need perfect Spanish to play.

And when you travel

Nothing about Xsporty is Puerto Rico–only. The app finds events by location, so the same account, profile and ratings go wherever you go. And if the city you land in doesn't have a game yet, you can create the first one.

Download Xsporty and play your first game this week.
